Yahoo! Closing Geocities Later This Year. Oh No!

Well, there you go, after once being the 3rd most popular website on the internet and Yahoo! aquiring it for something like $3 billion USD, Geocities is going to close. Normally i wouldnt give a shit but this particular free web host holds a special place in my heart. You see, it is the home of The Official PorkSword Homepage.

Not only does this mean that the site will close and the homepage, which has been there for 10 years (!!) will be no more, it will really actually be totally no more as i have no idea what the login details are for the site so I have no way to save the data. Unless of course i manually save every bit of it, but i wont do that cos that is lame.

So, to all you PorkSword fans out there, and i know there are… some, this year will be the last year you can view our homepage so make the most of it! In my opinion this is “out of line”.

EDIT: fuck it. what was i thinking? i’ve downloaded the entire site using a nifty little application, so now all we need is a domain to bung it on. I could just throw it up on one of mine but i feel we need our own such as www.porksword.com. Unfortunately, that site is already registered and parked as a gay resource site hah. I have put in an offer to the owner on sedo.co.uk. Will see if i get a response!

So the fine people on the island of New Zealand were the first people in the world to get their mits on the new iPhone 3G today, and of course, the first thing they do is dismantle it and spread it out on a table for all to see. Why? They are nerds.

The queue outside the new Telstra shop in Melbourne CBD is massive. People who got there at 5am have only just got one, it is now almost 9am. Optus have gone through 14 people in an hour and a half and they only got 80 handsets!

Blimey.

A huge tornado funnel cloud touches down in Orchard, Iowa, Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 9:04 p.m. The Globe Gazette and Mitchell County Press News reported that Lori Mehmen of Orchard, took the photo from outside her front door. Mehmen said the funnel cloud came near the ground and then went back up into the clouds. Besides tree and crop damage, no human injuries were reported. (AP Photo/Lori Mehmen)

the writers strike

I just heard, on good authority, that the The Writers Guild of America strike is about to be resolved. By the end of this week we should hear something let’s see.

Apparently writers cant stop themselves from writing, so they continued to write all this time but just haven’t been submitting the work. This most likely will mean A LOT of fast paced production once things are resolved to get some series completed.

Also, Channel 7 has a lot of crappy shows coming out this year huhuh.
